옥인 콜렉티브는 종로구 옥인동 옥인아파트의 지명을 딴 작가 그룹이다.
2009년 7월 강제 철거를 앞둔 옥인아파트에 거주하던 동료 작가의 집을 방문하게 된 것을 계기로 시작된 ‘옥인아파트 프로젝트’는 급작스런 철거 과정에서 남겨진 세입자들이 처한 난감한 상황과 이미 떠나버린 거주민들의 흔적, 근대적 건축물이 지닌 상징성과 주변지역의 역사성 등이 뒤얽힌 공간에 대한 탐사와 함께 이루어졌다. 그리고 이 같은 프로젝트의 진행 과정에서 자연스럽게 결성된 것이 옥인 콜렉티브이다. 언제나 개발 중인 도시에서 급작스레 사망 선고를 받게 되는 공간과 그곳에서 벌어지는 사건과 정황은 도시민 누구에게나 항시 대기 중이며, 이때 우리가 취할 수 있는 최선의 방법은 개발에 대한 이원론적인 찬반이나 커뮤니티의 이해관계를 넘어서 그것을 바라보는 시각과 태도의 폭을 넓히는 것이었다.
그러므로 옥인 콜렉티브의 활동은 특정지역으로부터 출발했지만 주변에서 쉽사리 발견하게 되는 무수한 '옥인'을 기억하며, 척박한 도시 공간 속의 탐험, 연구와 놀이, 환대(hospitality), 예술과 일상의 말랑한 침투와 개입을 고민한다.
단독 전시인 ‘옥인 오픈사이트’(옥인아파트 2010), ‘콘크리트 아일랜드’(테이크아웃드로잉 2010) 외에 ‘랜덤 액세스’(백남준미술관 2010), ‘여론의 공론장’(대안공간루프 2010), ‘19금 퍼포먼스 릴레이’(대안공간루프 2011), '안녕 없는 생활들, 모험들'(부산시립미술관 2011), ‘파동, The Forces Behind’(두산갤러리 2012) 등의 전시에 참여했다. 2010년 9월부터 현재까지 인터넷 라디오 스테이션 [STUDIO+82](http://okin.cc/radio)를 운영 중이며, 현재 금천예술공장 레지던시에 입주해 있다.

"Okin is a group of artists concerned with issues of spatial regeneration, intervention and collaboration. The name Okin references the famous Okin-Dong site redevelopment and the associated process of tearing down the existing buildings.
Through their activities, the group excavates the complexities associated to conflicting temporalities, topologies and agendas. Okin’s first public event, Okin OPEN SITE precariously held at the demolition site itself, functioned to highlight the situation and the discrepancies between individual and corporate power. In addition, it had the added functionality of performing as a ‘conceptual wake’: the ability to recognize the importance of something, celebrate its existence, lament its disappearance and, in doing so, enact the ability to move on, not as an act of leaving behind, but of carrying forward.
Given the state many of the apartments were left in (several seeming to have been abandoned without a chance of salvaging possible objects of sentimental value) the Okin collective seems to have taken on this ritual that those displaced were unable to perform. This ‘operating in the absence of the other ‘(which is neither for nor on behalf of the other) raises relevant questions regarding notions of memory, interference and engagement, archiving, and interchangeability of experience while testing the value of artistic activity." _ Claudia Pestana, Former NJP Center Curator

Okin Radio Archive Show in BUSAN

옥인 콜렉티브의 인터넷 라디오 스테이션 [STUDIO+82]는 전시기간 동안 2010년 9월부터 방송된 프로그램들로 이루어진 ‘아카이브쇼’를 기획하며, 공개 방송에 여러분을 초대합니다.

공개 방송의 게스트는 네덜란드의 카스코(CASCO)에서 디렉터로 활동하고 있는 최빛나씨이다. 카스코는 네덜란드 유트레히트에 소재한 공공미술기관으로 1990년에 설립되었고, 미술을 통하되 학제간 그리고 리서치 기반의 실천과 병행하면서 대안적 사회적 공간을 만들기 위해 노력하고 있다. 현재는 지난 2년에 걸쳐 작업했던 <대가사혁명> 프로젝트의 전시를 진행 중이다. 이것은 가사 공간의 정치를 미술, 디자인 등 여러 분야와의 리서치와 작업을 통해서 탐구하며 자본주의 주도 하의 삶과는 다른 방식의 삶을 구축하고자 하는 열망이 담긴 프로젝트라 할 수 있다. 전시는 공간, 노동, 소유, 관계 총 네 개의 축으로 구성되는데, ‘공간’이 주제인 작업 중에는 독일의 여성주의 영화감독 헬케 산더의 단편 영화 No. 1 From the Reports of Security Guards and Patrol Services (1984) 가 포함되어 있다. 이것은 김진숙씨가 크레인에서 직접 찍은 동영상과 지역과 시간을 넘어서 한 패를 이루며 여성성, 그리고 생활의 절박한 문제, 노동, 저항의 아름다움과 힘을 응축해 드러내고 있다. 오픈 토크는 이 두 영상을 중심으로 이루어질 예정이다.

Okin Internet Radio Station [STUDIO+82] organizes Radio Archive Show in the Exhibition period and invites you to OPEN TALK with the guest, Binna Choi. Binna Choi is a director of Casco. Casco, Office for Art, Design and Theory, established in 1990 in Utrecht, is a public art institution that supports for cross-discilinary and collaborative practices and engages with the idea of constructing an alternative social space. Currently on view is the final exhibition of ‘The Grand Domestic Revolution - User’s Manual’, the two-years “living research” project that explores the possibilities of the post-capitalist ways of living and working in contemporary society. The exhibition includes the film by German feminist filmmaker Helke Sander ‘No. 1 From the Reports of Security Guards and Patrol Services’ (1984). Binna Choi is going to introduce this film in connection with the film by JinSuk Kim, addressing the commonalities and differences between two films around the notions of resistance, struggles, labour and life.
