옥인 콜렉티브는 종로구 옥인동 옥인아파트의 지명을 딴 작가 그룹이다.
2009년 7월 강제 철거를 앞둔 옥인아파트에 거주하던 동료 작가의 집을 방문하게 된 것을 계기로 시작된 ‘옥인아파트 프로젝트’는 급작스런 철거 과정에서 남겨진 세입자들이 처한 난감한 상황과 이미 떠나버린 거주민들의 흔적, 근대적 건축물이 지닌 상징성과 주변지역의 역사성 등이 뒤얽힌 공간에 대한 탐사와 함께 이루어졌다. 그리고 이 같은 프로젝트의 진행 과정에서 자연스럽게 결성된 것이 옥인 콜렉티브이다. 언제나 개발 중인 도시에서 급작스레 사망 선고를 받게 되는 공간과 그곳에서 벌어지는 사건과 정황은 도시민 누구에게나 항시 대기 중이며, 이때 우리가 취할 수 있는 최선의 방법은 개발에 대한 이원론적인 찬반이나 커뮤니티의 이해관계를 넘어서 그것을 바라보는 시각과 태도의 폭을 넓히는 것이었다.
그러므로 옥인 콜렉티브의 활동은 특정지역으로부터 출발했지만 주변에서 쉽사리 발견하게 되는 무수한 '옥인'을 기억하며, 척박한 도시 공간 속의 탐험, 연구와 놀이, 환대(hospitality), 예술과 일상의 말랑한 침투와 개입을 고민한다.
단독 전시인 ‘옥인 오픈사이트’(옥인아파트 2010), ‘콘크리트 아일랜드’(테이크아웃드로잉 2010) 외에 ‘랜덤 액세스’(백남준미술관 2010), ‘여론의 공론장’(대안공간루프 2010), ‘19금 퍼포먼스 릴레이’(대안공간루프 2011), '안녕 없는 생활들, 모험들'(부산시립미술관 2011), ‘파동, The Forces Behind’(두산갤러리 2012) 등의 전시에 참여했다. 2010년 9월부터 현재까지 인터넷 라디오 스테이션 [STUDIO+82](http://okin.cc/radio)를 운영 중이며, 현재 금천예술공장 레지던시에 입주해 있다.

"Okin is a group of artists concerned with issues of spatial regeneration, intervention and collaboration. The name Okin references the famous Okin-Dong site redevelopment and the associated process of tearing down the existing buildings.
Through their activities, the group excavates the complexities associated to conflicting temporalities, topologies and agendas. Okin’s first public event, Okin OPEN SITE precariously held at the demolition site itself, functioned to highlight the situation and the discrepancies between individual and corporate power. In addition, it had the added functionality of performing as a ‘conceptual wake’: the ability to recognize the importance of something, celebrate its existence, lament its disappearance and, in doing so, enact the ability to move on, not as an act of leaving behind, but of carrying forward.
Given the state many of the apartments were left in (several seeming to have been abandoned without a chance of salvaging possible objects of sentimental value) the Okin collective seems to have taken on this ritual that those displaced were unable to perform. This ‘operating in the absence of the other ‘(which is neither for nor on behalf of the other) raises relevant questions regarding notions of memory, interference and engagement, archiving, and interchangeability of experience while testing the value of artistic activity." _ Claudia Pestana, Former NJP Center Curator

■ 오프닝 퍼포먼스

□ 오픈 컷_ 돈 없이 가치가 교환될 때 어떤 일이 벌어질까? 
   Open Cut_ What happens when value exchanges without money?

- 옥인 콜렉티브의 전시 『콘크리트 아일랜드』의 오프닝 퍼포먼스인 오픈 컷(Open Cut)에서는 돈을 떠난 가치의 교환이 어떻게 실행될 수 있을까란 궁금증을 직접 시험해보고자 합니다. 9월 1일 오후 2시부터 빈도해, 윤영중 두 분의 헤어스타일리스트는 테이크아웃드로잉에 일시적인 미용실(temporary hair salon)을 개업합니다. 각각의 스타일리스트가 제시한 교환 목록에 해당되는 물품 혹은 조건에 해당하는 것을 제공할 수 있는 분들은 당일 커트 서비스를 받으실 수 있습니다. 단, 교환 시에 서로의 조건이 맞지 않을 경우 거래가 성립하지 않을 수도 있습니다. ‘오픈 컷’에서 녹화된 내용은 9월 한달간 테이크아웃드로잉(한남동)에 있을 옥인 콜렉티브의 전시 『콘크리트 아일랜드』의 프로그램인 인터넷 라디오를 통해서 방송됩니다.

1. 빈도해 - 머리카락이 바닥에 뒹굴 때마다 새록새록 남겨지는 스타일이 좋아서 여태껏 이대에서 미장원을 운영하고 있다. 토요일엔 홍대 놀이터에서 젬베를 치며 마음을 치유한다.
- 교환조건_담쟁이 사진(10인치 이상), 여행용 가방(끌거나 맬 수도 있는 것) 대여, 미용실 로고디자인, 사진용 액자를 만들어 주실 분, 간단한 영상 편집 강의(2시간), 책(사랑의 단상, 나만의 공간, 게으름에 대한 찬양, 사생활의 역사, 철학과 굴뚝 청소부 중), 기네스 펠트로 주연 영화 ‘듀엣’ OST, 베토벤 바이얼린 소나타 CD
2. 윤영중 - 1999년 런던 어학연수 중에 무작정 현지 사람들이 많은 곳에서 일하고 싶어서 미용실에 갔다가 사람을 행복하게 만드는 미용사라는 직업에 매료되어 10년째 작업중.
- 교환조건_제 얼굴을 드로잉해주세요. 작업하는 모습을 그려주세요. 영국 내셔널 갤러리에서 판매하는 그림 엽서(르누아르, 반 고흐, 윌리엄 터너)를 드로잉해주세요. 에곤 쉴레 엽서 세트, 너바나 라이브 DVD, DSLR 카메라 특강(2시간), 컬러풀한 양말 3켤레, 당신이 가장 좋아하는 노래가 있는 CD, 빈티지 풍의 팬츠나 티셔츠

□ 123 밴드_박보나, 조은지 8pm
- 경기 창작 센터가 위치한 경기도 선감도 주변의, 123버스 루트에 흩어져 있는 빈박스형 건물에 대한 협업(부동산박스빈선감도123 프로젝트, 2010)을 계기로 2010년에 결성되었다. 대표곡으로는 박보나와 조은지가 작사하고 우주소가 작곡한 ‘임대’와 ‘딴섬주인’이 있다.

We are running a temporary hair salon with two stylists from 2pm to 7pm on Wednesday, September 1st during the opening. If you are interested in getting your hair done as an exchange, please let us know ASAP.  We are looking for only 7 participants for each stylist.  Further information for the exchange of goods and services will be sent upon request.
